Steven was on Richmond’s list from 2011 to 2013, where he played 31 games for their affiliate team Coburg. He re-signed with South Fremantle in 2014 and has played 109 League games in six seasons for the Bulldogs.

In 2019, Steve won South Fremantle's Best Clubman Award and finished ninth in the Best and Fairest. In 2016, he finished third in South Fremantle's Best and Fairest Award.

He was also a member of South Fremantle's Colts' premiership team in 2011.
