Akec Makur Chuot is a trailblazer in Australian Rules football, becoming the first African-born player to compete in the AFL Women's (AFLW) competition. Born in South Sudan before moving to Australia as a child, Makur Chuot's journey to the AFLW is one of resilience and determination.

Recruited by Fremantle as a free agent ahead of the inaugural 2017 AFLW season, she made history as part of the league’s first wave of players. A versatile and athletic defender, she has also played for Richmond and Hawthorn, bringing her speed, agility, and strong intercept marking to each team.

Beyond football, Makur Chuot has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry, working as a model, presenter, and media personality. Her natural charisma and passion for storytelling have seen her feature in various media roles, including television appearances and ambassador work, where she continues to advocate for diversity and representation in sports and beyond.
