Akec Makur Chuot is a trailblazer in Australian Rules football, becoming the first African-born player to compete in the AFL Women's (AFLW) competition. Born in South Sudan before moving to Australia as a child, Makur Chuot's journey to the AFLW is one of resilience and determination.

Recruited by Fremantle as a free agent ahead of the inaugural 2017 AFLW season, she made history as part of the league’s first wave of players. A versatile and athletic defender, she has also played for Richmond and Hawthorn, bringing her speed, agility, and strong intercept marking to each team.
